Reaching the end of this World Cup Qualification stage, Uruguayans and Argentinians will fight
for one of the 4 direct access spots. The distance between these two teams is 1 point only.
Uruguay led for a big part of this qualification stage, and they had their qualification to the World Cup practically certain.
But well, a series of failures have made the team drop to 3rd place, with 23 points, and adding their last friendly.
Tthe Uruguayan national team is already with 5 losses in a row, with them being: Chile (1-3), Brazil (1-4), Peru (1-2), Ireland (1-3) and Italy (0-3), with these last two being at home.
They would have a massive absence in Luis Suarez, who is hurt and missing Barcelona’s matches, but with their need to win, the striker has made himself available and may play for the National team.
A loss can make them drop from the qualification zone, so I’m expecting a more aggressive match from the Uruguayans.
Argentina, on the other hand, has been disappointing during this stage. This was the team that was supposed to fight with Brazil for the top of this group.
but they sit on a meagre 5th position with 22 points, and if this ended today, they would move onto the play-offs.
The big motivational factor for the Argentinians is the recent arrival of manager Sampaoli, that resigned from Sevilla to manage his own National team.
With that, they’ve already won 1-0 against Brazil on a friendly and they battered a weaker Singapore team.
The manager has arrived and already brought back to the team Aguero and Pastore, to complete their already dangerous offensive sector of Messi, Di María and Dybala.
Uruguay vs Argentina – Betting Tip and Prediction:
It is a match that, in theory, should contain an element of fierceness, vigorous football and tactic very present. However, I see this match with a lot of potential for goals.
The hosts are on a very bad streak, that should have rocked their confidence.
They have been conceding a lot of goals, but they are playing at home and they need to win so they can score and concede some goals.
On the other hand, the visitors have Messi and Co. but I don’t trust their defence either.
Due to these facts, and because this is a key match for both teams regarding their qualification for the World Cup.
I believe both teams will score and I expect a high-scoring affair.
