Russia vs Poland – UEFA Futsal Championship: Start of the Euro 2018 that is played in Slovenia this year
Head-to-head we’ll have one of the big contenders to the victory in this competition Russia, against the weaker team of the group Poland.
The Russians come into this Euro with ambitions, after having reached the final on the last edition of this competition, where they were defeated by Spain.
They have big expectations for this competition once again, and they are one of the strongest teams on this competition and consequentially one of the biggest favourites to winning the title.
This ends up being one of the last chances for the Russians to take advantage of some of the fabulous players they have that are approaching the end of their careers.
Robinho, who is Benfica’s winger, is one of them, despite still being one of the best players in the world, who won’t play for many more years, and being the star of the team, the Russian National team should resent itself from his departure.
However, it is important to note that they have a very talented generation of youngsters, with names like Chishkala, who has 22 years of age and plays for Ugra and should be one of the future stars of this team.
This way, Russia is a team with a lot of individual quality with names like Eder Lima, who is a physically very strong pivot,
and that is in my opinion one of the top-5 pivots in the world, the already mentioned Robinho, one of the best wingers in the world, Romulo,
Esquerdinha, and some others. One of the biggest characteristics of this team is the excessive use of naturalized players, to which we could still add Katata who plays for Ugra but is out due to injury.
On this group, this Russian team will find Kazakhstan as their biggest rival on the fight for the top spot.
As for Poland, they are a much inferior team to Russia, be in terms of national teams or clubs, and they still have a long way to go to reach the highest level.
They come into this European Championships as the 3rd best team of the qualifying stage, managing to be the best of 7 teams that finished in that position.
This is a national team without much history at this level, only participating on a Euro for the 2nd occasion, and they didn’t manage to take part on it since Euro 2001, which was curiously played in Russia, and where Poland lost the 3 matches they played.
Russia vs Poland – Betting Tip and Prediction:
I think we will have a match without much history here. A national team that are European vice-champions and that have on their roster some of the best players in the world and another team that is much weaker on several levels, that comes into the final stage of a Euro 17 years later because they were the best 3rd place.
I predict a Russian battering here, considering the differences between the 2 teams. It will be important for the Russians to get the best possible result here because they have a super strong Kazakhstan in their group,
fighting for 1st place as well, which means that the advantage in terms of goals scored and conceded can be very important.
