Of course that a friendly is a friendly, but when Real Madrid and Barcelona face off, I believe that it goes beyond that.
Even if the match is a pre-season friendly and it is played on the United States.
This is a match to open this season’s hostilities and with a taste of revenge from last year.
Last season Barcelona have not lost to Real Madrid, winning one match and tying the other. But that doesn’t really mean much, since Real Madrid won comfortably on the trophy department.
Barcelona only won Copa del Rey as a consolation prize of an underwhelming season .
To change this scenario, Barcelona is banking on maintaining their core. With the exception of Nélson Semedo (Benfica) that cost them 35 Million Euros, Barcelona hasn’t made any other big name signing.

Real Madrid vs Barcelona Pick:
Real Madrid is still a bit “hangover” from their trophy-full season last year. The team started their pre-season without their biggest star Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Portuguese is still enjoying his vacation after participating in the Confederations Cup, and didn’t travel with Los Merengues to the United States.
Much like Barcelona, Real was also discrete on the transfer market, although some might say that Kylian Mbappé might still come and be the big signing of the window for Real.
Both teams played two matches so far. Barcelona has beaten Juventus and Manchester United, while Real drew against United and then got smashed by Manchester City.
These matches aren’t very good indicators but I’ve got a feeling that Barcelona is sharper in this starting phase. Real seems to be on a slower pace and Barça should take advantage.
