Rangers are back, after a few seasons on the lower divisions
Rangers: After a couple of seasons away from the top tier, Rangers have returned to the Premiership last season, but they couldn’t offer a great fight against Celtic for the league title.
This season, the team promised more ambition and they are coached by Pedro Caixinha, Portuguese manager who already had jobs in several countries, such as Mexico for example, where he was very successful on Santos Laguna.
The Rangers’ roster has some Portuguese players, such as Fábio Cardoso, Bruno Alves, Délcio and Daniel Candeias. Rangers didn’t get a good start to this new season, since they were eliminated by an amateur team from Luxembourg on the 1st qualifying round of the Europa League.
Focusing only on the league, they got a good 1st match against Motherwell, where they won 2-1 away from home and then during the week they won 6-0 against a lower tier team in a cup match.
Hibernian: They are a mid-table team in Scotland who will hardly go into higher wanderings such as fighting for the title with Celtic and Rangers for example.
The roster has less quality, despite being enough for a campaign without upsets. It is composed mostly by Scottish players, and they even have some interesting forwards, like Boyle and Murray. Both scored last week on their 3-1 home win against Partick.
During the week, they played a cup match and they won 5-0 against a lower tier team, fielding almost all of their usual starters.
Rangers vs Hibernian Pick:
Rangers started their season well, if we ignore that bitter elimination from the Europa League against an amateur team.
However, that may be positive, since now they are focused just on the Premiership and the upcoming title race, which shouldn’t be easy at all, because Celtic are still strong and maintained their core team.
On this first home match, I see Rangers getting the win. They have a stronger squad, experienced players and an impressive set of fans who will help them find the way to triumph on this encounter.
Hibernian are really an easy matchup for this Rangers’ side and I don’t see any way for the team led by Pedro Caixinha to slip up on their season debut at home.
