After a season and a half without a lot of success in Catalunya, Coutinho will have the opportunity to show his value on German football with the shirt of the almighty Bayern München. The player arrives on loan, but Bayern has the option to buy him for 120 million Euros at the end of the season.
A story deemed to be unsuccessful
Since early we understood that Philippe Coutinho would have a difficult life in Barcelona taking into consideration the playstyle of the Catalans and their excessive dependence of Lionel Messi.
With the Argentinian superstar playing on the center of the pitch most of the time, Coutinho was a lot of times put on the left side and that clearly didn’t benefit him on his adaptation to the club, or wasn’t he a player more tailored to play in the middle.
And as if that wasn’t enough of an obstacle to his adaptation and affirmation at the club, Barcelona signed Antoine Griezmann for the new season on a clear demonstration that his space would be even more reduced.
With Luis Suarez, Griezmann and Lionel Messi in scene, all the others will have utilization time more limited, also being remarkable that Ousmane Dembélé seemed to be more of a gamble of Ernesto Valverde at this start of the campaign, on another clear demonstration that the Brazilian was being held back and needed a new path on his career.
That way, it is natural that the players and his agent explore the possibilities they have available at this stage where the transfer window in England is already closed and signing for Bayern München seems to have been an excellent decision.
Bayern needing art on the attack
But this transfer might have been equally important for the Bavarian club, that is reinforcing itself with a creative player that might be very useful to feed Robert Lewandowski, Thomas Muller, Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry, all of them very talented players but that sometimes lack a bit of creativity.
The side led by Niko Kovac started the season in the worst possible way, losing the German Supercup to Borussia Dortmund with a loss by 2-0, before also getting off to a poor start in the Bundesliga by conceding a 2-2 draw against Hertha Berlin at the Allianz Arena.
That way, besides some lack of attacking inspiration in these matches, Bayern has also been showing some unexpected defensive weaknesses that the Croatian manager needs to address rapidly.

But, despite this poor start to the season, Bayern München continues to be the stand-out favourite to win another Bundesliga title, with odds of 1.25 on 1xbet right now.
On the other hand, and less favourites for the bookmakers, Borussia Dortmund ( 3.50) and RB Leipzig ( 18.00) started their campaigns with comfortable victories and are looking very strong at this stage.
However, the markets don’t Forget the dominance that Bayern has been showing in German football on the last couple of decades and they certainly don’t want to jump into any conclusions from a draw at home on the debut.
Trial of fire right at the start?
Despite being legitimate for us to doubt the immediate utilization of Philippe Coutinho next weekend in Gelsenkirchen, the truth is that the Brazilian could be important on an encounter against the always troublesome Schalke 04.
After dropping points on the first round, Bayern really needs to beat an opponent with some quality that didn’t even get off to a bad start, by drawing 0-0 against Borussia Monchengladbach away from home.
The truth is that, with or without Coutinho, Bayern will have to put pressure on the opponent in order to confirm their first victory of the season in official matches.
So far, Bayern has conceded goals in all of their official matches this season and Schalke will try to maintain that tradition, although it seems to be even more likely that Bayern will score several goals in that day.
Champions always on the horizon
The arrival of Philippe Coutinho will also add more depth to the Bavarian side in the sense of making a good campaign in the Champions League, but do they have enough arguments to fight with teams of the quality of Manchester City, Barcelona or Liverpool at this stage?
All of this are questions to be answered throughout the season, but while the market is still open, there is the possibility of Bayern signing a couple more players…
