Pelicans vs Warriors – NBA : The champions and this season’s favourites visit the city of New Orleans to face Anthony Davis’ Pelicans…
The Warriors, besides being the champions, were able to maintain their key players, as well as increasing their roster’s depth.
They are at the moment considered the best team by many, having a huge variety of quality options both offensively and defensively, and being way above average when it comes to 3pts field goals.
But that didn’t come in handy for them on the first game of the season.
The team was defeated at home against the Houston Rockets, which is not a scandal but is still weird, given the advantage they had at some points during the game, which would cover any handicap line there was in any bookmakers.
It ends up being a tough loss to swallow, especially since it was against one of their main rivals.
Another interesting aspect is the fact that the top scorer in the game was Young, which will rarely happen during the rest of the season, with Green also leading, by far, in the assists criteria and Durant in the blocks.
But that’s all in the past and tonight the objective will be the same: to win. The team showed some good signs during the pre-season, posting up for example 142 points in a single game.
For tonight, Igoudala might still be out, while Green also isn’t 100% fit. Casspi should only return on the next game.
The Pelicans, led by Anthony Davis didn’t do so well in the pre-season, even conceding 142 points from a weak attacking team like the Memphis Grizzlies.
It was against that same Memphis team that they played on their season debut, losing again, this time by a 12-points margin, with the game finishing 103-91,
which was an exaggerated result that is way too punishing for this New Orleans team who has more quality than that.
Anthony Davis is still very strong and he is not to blame for the losses, since he scored 33 points and got 18 rebounds on the match.
Cousins also did very well, proving that this double can do some damage, scoring 28 points and having an incredible amount of 7 blocks over the course of the game.
The rest of the team simply didn’t keep up with the 2 “monsters”, with the negative spotlight going to Holiday, who is capable of doing much more than 4 points and 4 assists in a match.
For tonight, Asik and Ajinca are still out, while Rondo, Jackson and Hill still have some weeks before being fully recovered.
Pelicans vs Warriors – Betting Tip and Prediction:
Tonight, it will be Warriors’ night in my opinion. The two teams can do much better than what they’ve done on the first game but unfortunately for the Pelicans,
they will face the champions tonight, which means they might get their 2nd consecutive loss, which hopefully won’t crush the team’s confidence, since I think they have a lot to give still.
The Warriors however, don’t know how it tastes to lose 2 games in a row for quite some time now so it would be a surprise to me if this roster was to lose 2 games in a row now, giving their rivals so many hopes of something not being right.
It is not a sure win, since I don’t think the Pelicans are a bad team, but considering that most of the team didn’t get a good start, unlike the Warriors,
I have to take advantage of this to gain some points with the champions. Therefore, my bet here is the Golden State Warriors to win.
