In a week dedicated to International football, New York City FC and Sporting Kansas City
Two teams with their play-off spot practically ensured, will face off on a match that was previously postponed.
New York City are in 2nd place of the Eastern Conference, 9 points behind leaders Toronto FC and with a 3-point advantage over Chicago
Fire, a difference that can be doubled in this match.
Sporting Kansas City are 3rd in the Western Conference and they have 2 and 3 games than leaders Seattle Sounders and Portland Timbers, respectively, having the possibility to even overlap them during this week.
We can clearly see that both teams are still looking to ensure one of the first two spots in each Conference,
that would give them a Bye in the first play-off round, since only the Kansas City’s guys can have the ambition to reach the Western Conference 1st spot.
This week, with some players on international duties, both sides are going to have some absences on their squads. David Villa got injured for Spain,
while Alex Ring (Finland) and Yangel Herrera (Venezuela) completely dismantle the Citizens’ midfield, where they will also miss Matarrita, Camargo and Lopez who are injured.
Matt Besler and Graham Zusi, who are with the United States, Soony Saad with Lebanon and James Musa with New Zealand will also be heavy absences for the visitors.
New York City vs Sporting Kansas City – Betting Tip and Prediction:
With two teams affected by rotation and usage of less utilized players, the game will lose in quality but will gain in unpredictability.
Considering those factors and the head-to-head record between both sides,
it is more than likely that they won’t have much ability to reach the goal, as opposed to what usually happens in the Major League Soccer.
Therefore, the idea that this can be a low-scoring affair, with both teams looking at the draw as a not-so-bad result for their objectives and ambitions makes sense to me.
