Melo & Kubot vs Bryan & Bryan – ATP London Finals: The Bryan brothers are the most successful doubles team in the history of tennis…
They have conquered more than 100 titles throughout their career and were the most dominant partnership of all time in tennis.
After years dominating the doubles’ ranking, they haven’t been able to maintain the same level for the past two seasons.
With 39 years of age, they are getting closer to the end of their career. This year they won 2 titles during the season: Atlanta and Eastbourne.
That’s the lowest number of titles they won in a single season since 2000 where they didn’t get any. Since then, they’ve always conquered at least 3 titles per season.
They have qualified for this ATP Finals as the 5th best doubles’ team of the year. The two currently occupy the 11th position, which is pretty poor considering their record in this sport.
On the first round they beat the Murray/Soares double 2-1.
Now they’ll face the best doubles’ team at the moment, the Brazilian Marcelo Melo and the Polish Lucasz Kubot.
They have had an incredible year with 6 titles gained, with the highlights being the Grand Slam at Wimbledon and the Masters 1000 in Paris, Madrid and Miami.
With the victory on the first round of the Finals against Dodig/Granollers they have already ensured the top spot on the 2017 Rankings.
This will be the 3rd meeting between these doubles, with Melo/Kubot winning both of the previous encounters:
2017 Washington – 76 64
2016 Viena – 46 62 1210
Melo & Kubot vs Bryan & Bryan – Betting Tip and Prediction:
It is clear that the Bryan brothers are no longer the same powerhouse they were in recent years.
With 39 years of age they are getting closer to the end of their career and their performance levels clearly aren’t the same anymore. That is clear when looking at their results this season.
On the other hand, they’ll face the doubles’ team who is in the better period of their career.
They have had an incredible season, are really confident and have been winning most of their matches.
I see Melo and Kubot sharper than their opponents on the returns and that makes all the difference in the game.
Melo and Kubot have beaten the Bryan bros in the two only occasions they met and I believe in another win for them here.
