Klopp’s Liverpool has taken a very important step into reaching the group stage of the Champions League, which is something that hasn’t happened a lot in the past few years.
Liverpool: They have won 2-1 on the 1st leg in Germany and they now know they don’t rely on anyone but themselves to get into the group stage.
With a strong squad and plenty attacking solutions such as Mané, Salah, Firmino and even Coutinho (injured but he will be back if they end up going through, and if he doesn’t confirm his departure to Barcelona).
This Liverpool side always plays attacking football, being flashy in the offense and scoring a lot of goals.
In the Premier League, they started with a 3-3 draw at Watford on an exciting match and then they have beaten Crystal Palace 1-0 at home, in a tough but deserved victory.
Hoffenheim: The Germans, who have had an excellent league campaign last season, have started off this play-off with the wrong foot, since they have lost 2-1 at home against the Reds.
Obviously, they weren’t favourites but they had a really strong desire to play in the Champions League’s group stage, and that is harder to accomplish now.
The squad is reasonable but they are inferior when compared to Liverpool, and that seems obvious to me.
On their 1st matchday of the Bundesliga, they have beaten Werder Bremen 1-0 at home and they haven’t given up on this play-off yet, since I assume they have the ambition to turn this tie around despite acknowledging that they have a very, very hard task in hands.
Liverpool vs Hoffenheim Pick:
Liverpool are a strong team at home with a lot of dynamic, a high offensive volume with a lot of focus on organized football and quick transitions.
They have fast, strong and versatile players up front and that was really important on the 1st leg match in Germany.
Klopp has a clear notion of the real value of these German teams and he has prepared his team well to beat them, despite playing away from home.
In Liverpool, I expect them to play their own style, offensive, attacking and not settling with this slim advantage. I see the Englishmen winning again and, obviously, going through to the group stage.
