Maybe there is no other way to describe this other than a “clash of styles”
between two completely different managers in Marcelo Bielsa and Leonardo Jardim.
The Argentinian has always been loved and followed by the French media while the Portuguese was almost mocked by his humility (and his team’s) during a certain period in the past.
However, Leonardo Jardim is the French champion and the commander of this team who, despite a lot of moves on the transfer market, is still presenting the quality that makes them stand out from the rest.
Lille brought in Marcelo Bielsa in hope of getting an element who gave some star power to the investment made on the club.
On his recent history, Bielsa was never a man of projects but always a manager who looks to mimic his greatest achievements, even when the context demanded a different approach.
On his current club, with the competition he is facing, Marcelo Bielsa has been trying to force his model, but the drop in terms of results is clear.
Only one win, on the 1st round, and 2 draws aren’t enough and the club is somewhat close to the relegation zone.
AS Monaco got battered in Nice, in what was the only match where they dropped points this season, so far.
Trying to fight with Paris SG, who reinforced their squad very well, the Monegásques have maintained a model of huge quality and an excellent goal record, having won 3-0 against Strasbourg on their last match.
Their offensive ability is still one of their main attributes as we can see by the matches they have played so far, and even despite this match being played just before a Champions’ League encounter.
I expect that Leonardo Jardim has prepared his group well in order to make life very hard for Lille.
Lille vs Monaco – Betting Tip and Prediction:
For Marcelo Bielsa, despite the “carte blanche” that was handed to him, the scenario is getting darker.
The results need to start coming, or his own job could be in jeopardy.
