Levski Sofia and Vitosha Bistritsa will face off in the 3rd round of the Bulgarian championship, with both teams having shaky starts to this new season.
Levski started with a draw against Lokomotiv Plovdiv, but that match was postponed, because of Levski’s Europa League tie, in which they were eliminated and therefore, sent packing from European competitions.
Vitosha Bistritsa have been promoted this season to the main tier of Bulgarian football, and they haven’t won yet on their 2 matches played, which is a clear sign that this season will be tough for them.
Levski has a single point on the league table, but they have just played one match (0-0) against L. Plovdiv. The team from the capital has fallen on the Europe League against Hajduk Split, losing both legs of this tie.
That sealed their fate regarding European competitions this season, after they had eliminated Montenegro’s Sutjeska.
The Nikolai Mitov’s men now have the ability to focus completely on their domestic league.
Where they will certainly try to improve on their 2nd place during the regular season and 3rd place on the play-offs, who granted them the access to the Europa League’s playoff.
Vitosha Bistritsa didn’t exactly get an exciting start, but it’s still early days.
After 2 matches, Vitosha has 1 point, since after losing away to Cherno More (1-0), they were able to draw against Etar on their first home match in the top tier (not in their stadium though.
Because the game was played on Levski Stadium, in Sofia, in what once was Levski’s home ground).
Grigor Dolapchiev, 23 year old forward, got into Vitosha’s history books, since he scored Vitosha’s first goal on the First Division.
Levski Sofia vs Vitosha Bistritsa Pick:
For this match, I believe that Levski should be heavy favorites.
Since Vitosha is a fragile team that should crumble upon the better quality of Levski’s side.
