Things aren’t looking great in Turin after the defeat on the final of the Coppa Italia and the likely departure of Maurizio Sarri at the end of the season. However, a 9th consecutive title in the Italian Serie A seems now much closer to be conquered.
LAZIO DIDN’T WITHSTAND THE ATTACKING AVALANCHE
Juventus are now much more relaxed at the top of the Serie A’s league table after Lazio’s defeat in Bergamo against Atalanta.
Lazio actually had a perfect start to the match, getting ahead with 2 goals during the 1st half, but Atalanta’s reaction was quick, and the sensational side led by Gian Piero Gasperini was able to comeback and win brilliantly by 3-2.
With this result, Atalanta got closer to the 3rd place occupied by Inter Milan who drew at home against Sassuolo, and they are now only 4 points behind their Milanese rivals. On the other hand, they maintain their 6-points advantage over Roma who are in 5th place.
In a certain way, Atalanta seems to be closer and closer to a 2nd consecutive presence on the Champions League’s group stage, something that’s truly exceptional for an average Italian club that has been growing exponentially in the past couple of years.
Atalanta’s attacking football is really extraordinary and the team is now on a streak of 5 consecutive victories in the Serie A, establishing themselves as the team in best form of the competition.
It’s also important to remind that Atalanta are on the quarterfinals of the Champions League, and if they are able to maintain this moment of form, it will be extremely complicated to defeat them.
JUVE WITH TRANQUILITY TO RECOMPOSE THEMSELVES
Juventus looked absolutely clueless on the restart of Italian football, getting 2 goalless draws on the Coppa Italia that culminated on a defeat on penalties against Napoli.
Maurizio Sarri was heavily criticized, as well as Cristiano Ronaldo, and the club seems to be at a troubled period of its history right now. Luckily for them, Lazio’s defeat in Bergamo came to relieve the pressure on them a bit, since they now have a 4-points advantage at the top of the standings.
On the return to Serie A, Juve has beaten Bologna by 2-0 on a match where we saw clear improvements on the attack, with the team creating several goalscoring chances thanks to the versatility of Bernardeschi, Dybala and Ronaldo.

Has Sarri found an attacking trio that’s really capable of messing with the opposing defences? Those are answers that we will be able to find this Friday already, when Juve hosts Lecce in Turin, although the level of their opponents isn’t exactly high.
What’s certain is that Juventus is now only at odds of 1.28 to become Italian champions for the 9th consecutive time and another victory against Lecce should contribute towards getting them a little bit closer to that objective.
NEW SEASON ALREADY ON THE HORIZON
Juventus is now actively preparing for the next season considering the difficulties they’ve been dealing with on this one.
According to the international press, Andrea Agnelli is taking care of Arthur Melo’s transfer, Barcelona’s creative midfielder that can come to the club by means of the permanent concession of Miralem Pjanic and the payment of a fee around 15 million euros.
Besides the reinforcement on the middle of the pitch, Juventus seems now convinced that they need a world-class attacker who is able to replace the slow and constantly injured Gonzalo Higuain.
Cristiano Ronaldo tried to play as a striker for the past couple of months, but the results weren’t very good, and the Portuguese player seems to be better playing from the wing.

That way, it seems like Juve will be trying to sign Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City, in what would be a very big transfer from one of the most promising attackers in the world.
With the arrival of these two Brazilian players, it is likely that Juventus gains a new dimension when it comes to creating and finishing their offensive game and Cristiano Ronaldo would certainly be thankful for the arrival of two very talented players that could contribute to provide him with more quality.
In fact, Ronaldo has been showing some signs of frustration on the past couple of matches. Things haven’t been going as well as it was desirable for him, but his teammates also aren’t serving him with quality, which means we should expect some changes on the Italian side, even if they end up becoming champions once again.
