Japan vs Mali – International Friendly: After being battered by South Korea 4-1 on the last round of the Eastern Asian Cup
The Japanese national team comes into play on this friendly where they will face Mali at the Sclessin Stadium in the city of Liège, Belgium.
The manager Vahid Halilhodzic has called-up the team to play these two friendlies looking to start preparing their World Cup campaign.
The Japanese national team has a good playstyle, being well-organized and having good experienced players, with experience in some of the best football in the world.
Such as Takashi Usami, Shoya Nakajima, Gaku Shibasaki, Makoto Hasebe, Yuto Nagatomo and Hiroki Sakai, besides Shinji Kagawa that was left-out of the called-up players’ list this time and therefore they can surprise any team on the World Cup.
List of called-up players of the Japanese National team:
Goalkeepers: Eiji Kawashima (Metz-FRA), Masaaki Higashiguchi (Gamba Osaka-JAP) and Kosuke Nakamura (Kashiwa Reysol-JAP)
Defenders: Yuto Nagatomo (Galatasaray-TUR), Tomoaki Makino (Urawa Reds-JAP), Masato Morishige (FC Tokyo-JAP), Tomoya Ugajin (Urawa Reds-JAP), Hiroki Sakai (Olympique de Marseille-FRA), Shintaro Kurumaya (Kawasaki Frontale-JAP), Gen Shoji (Kashima Antlers-JAP), Wataru Endo (Urawa Reds-JAP) and Naomichi Ueda (Kashima Antlers-JAP)
Midfielders: Makoto Hasebe (Eintracht Frankfurt-GER), Hotaro Yamaguchi (Cerezo Osaka-JAP), Ryota Morioka (Anderlecht-BEL), Gaku Shibasaki (Getafe-ESP), Ryota Oshima (Kawasaki Frontale-JAP) and Kento Misao (Kashima Antlers-JAP)
Attackers: Honda Keisuke (Pachuca-MEX), Yu Kobayashi (Kawasaki Frontale-JAP), Yuya Osako (Koln-GER), Genki Haraguchi (Fortuna Dusseldorf-ALE), Takashi Usami (Fortuna Dusseldorf-GER), Kenyu Sugimoto (Cerezo Osaka-JAP), Yuya Kubo (Gent-BEL) and Shoya Nakajima (Portimonense-POR)
The biggest absence is Shinji Kagawa, of Borussia Dortmund, who is injured and should only return to the pitches in April.
The big news is the call-up of Shoya Nakajima of Portimonense(Portugal).
The manager Alain Giresse has been having a lot of problems to try and fix this Mali team, but he hasn’t been having an easy task.
Because the team actually has a reasonable defence but has a terrible attack, with the proof of that being their streak of 6 matches where they’ve failed to score a single goal and have conceded 7.
With 6 of those goals being conceded on a single match against Morocco, where they lost 6-0.
Japan vs Mali – Betting Tip and Prediction:
The Japanese team has a good roster, they are well-organized, and they have athletes with more footballing experience.
So they should win with some ease here.
