Jack Sock vs Horacio Zeballos – ATP Houston: In this game counting towards the 2nd round of the ATP Houston
We will have a duel between the American Jack Sock and the Argentinian Horacio Zeballos
Sock currently occupies the 16th position of the ATP Rankings and is slightly favoured to beat Zeballos, who is currently ranked 66th, according to the bookmakers’ odds.
The American plays in front of his crowd on his debut on clay in 2018. This is a surface where the American presents a lot of difficulties and doesn’t get very positive results.
However, his last 3 presences in Houston were remarkable, since he has won the title in 2015, has lost in the final in 2016 and reached the semi-finals last year.
We can say that Sock doesn’t accomplish much on clay, but in Houston that’s not quite true and he is able to get good results.
This season, Sock has only been managing to go through a few rounds, having 4 wins in 12 matches.
The Argentinian is the opposite of Sock. He prefers clay to the hard courts, surface where he has more than 700 matches played on. This year, he shined in São Paulo, where he defeated Monfils and reached the semi-finals (clay).
As for here in Houston, he got a clear win over Nishioka on his debut. His historical record on this competition isn’t that great.
He reached the semi-finals in 2010, but since then he never made it past the 2nd round.
Jack Sock vs Horacio Zeballos – Betting Tip and Prediction:
Sock has the American crowd on his side and the fact that he has been getting good results in Houston for the past 3 years.
As for Zeballos he is clearly on his natural habitat when playing on clay and that aspect can be determinant against a Sock who isn’t very comfortable on this kind of surface.
Without any previous meetings, I have the idea this will be a very close and unpredictable match.
However, the value on Zeballos’ odds are very tempting for a player that has already proved there are no impossible things for him on clay.
