The big objective of a bettor is finding some market where he has found value on, to make his bets. Most of the times, they have to scavenge through the bookmakers for lines that are enticing for them, but all of that has been changing after the “Request a Bet” option appeared. Below, I’ll explain the concept and give you my opinion about this tool.
What is the “Request a Bet” option on Bet365?
Most of the bookmakers didn’t allow bettors to combine two markets from the same event. As an example, we couldn’t combine on the same bet slip the victory of the team A and that player “X” would score a goal at any time.
All we could do was choose from the combinations offered by the bookmakers. I’ll give some examples of the combined markets, offered by the bookmakers:
• Winner + Team Total Goals
• Both teams to score + Total Goals
• HT/FT Winner + Total Goals
Bet365 was one of the few bookmakers that allowed the combination of several outcomes on the same match. Some markets that could be combined were: Winner, Total Goals, Number of Corners, both teams to score, to be in the lead at half-time.
As you can see, the options to build a bet within the same event were, in fact, very limited.
The “Request a Bet” option appeared recently, in some bookmakers, precisely to give the bettor the opportunity to create his own bet with the markets offered by the bookmakers.
The options of this tool vary from match to match and from bookmaker to bookmaker.
In most of the matches, the bookmakers bring options without Asian lines, which means, there isn’t the possibility of getting your money back or your selection being cancelled.
With this tool, I have the option to combine traditional markets, such as victory and total goals, but also add alternative markets, such as number of corners, number of cards, player to see a yellow card, etc.
The most popular encounters, that generally are the ones with the most money flowing on the bookmaker, are the ones that offer us more betting options.
• Total Fouls in the match
• Total amount of throw-ins
• Total Goal Kicks
The “Request a Bet” option allows us to have a wider set of possibilities to build a bet that initially the bookmaker didn’t offer us. That way, we can build a line, based on the analysis we’ve made before the start of the match.
Another advantage of this system is that we’re able to combine more than 2 markets on the same selection, because even when the bookmaker offers us combined markets, generally it is amongst two specific lines and very limited options.
How to create your bets on Bet365: What kind of bets can be created?
All the markets offered by the bookmaker can be combined on the same betslip. Always only on lines that don’t have the
“void” option (stake returned) and we have the possibility of choosing the team to cover the spread/over market on some options.
Liverpool vs Salzburg
• Over 12.5 Free Kicks in the match for Liverpool
• Over 8.5 Goal Kicks in the match for Salzburg
Barcelona vs Internazionale
• Over 4 corners in the match for Barcelona
• Over 0 Cards in the match for Barcelona
• Over 0 Cards in the match for Inter
Keep in mind that there is also always the specification of the time period of the selection.
On these examples above, the lines are for the full match, but we also have the options of choosing just the first half, second half, or first 10 minutes.
Other common option on this tool is combining selections in different matches, which means, choosing a selection from the match A, adding it to the betslip and build a selection from the match B, add it as well, and combine them into a single bet.
This option allows you to create up to 4 selections on the same bet slip, as an accumulator.
Match A: Liverpool x Salzburg
Match B: Barcelona x Inter
• Over 0 Cards in the match for Liverpool
• Over 0 Cards in the match for Salzburg
• Over 0 Cards in the matfch for Barcelona
• Over 0 Cards in the match for Inter
Total Odds: 2.04
What are the advantages and the risks of utilizing “Request a Bet”?
The advantage is clearly the fact that we don’t have to be limited by the options offered by the bookmaker.
Although they still limit the options on each match, we can build a bet that seems to have a higher chance of being successful.
It is good to clarify that you will always need to make a good analysis before the start of the match, because that’s the baseline for everything.
Sometimes we analyse a match that has a characteristic of a lot of marking, without a lot of spaces, and both sides having a strong defence. The most viable option would be the “Under”, but the bookmaker will probably offer very low odds for that.
However, on this same match, we identify that the team A is reasonably favoured, however, there is the chance of the match finishing with a dra
Since the home side is the favourite, the double chance odds are also very low. And in this case, we can combine both selections and build our own line, always based on what we analysed from the match.
The risk is in the amazement of creating lines with “easy” selections and end up adding too many selections and reducing your chances of winning.
I see a lot of cases of bettors that put several selections on the same bet slip, just to get “bigger” odds.
Sometimes we can combine several markets, but it should be based on an analysis, and how the match will go, according to your ideas.
It is a risk to bet on several markets, especially if they are conflicting, depending on the result obtained by a certain team within the match.
The most important thing is analyzing your bet and creating your exclusive bet slip, based on the study of the probabilities of the match, and not bet recklessly just to get great odds.
This option is a great possibility that appeared, and as time goes by, we learn more and more about it, but as any other kind of betting, it requires study and dedication, in order not to be fooled and see our investment go down the drain.
