Borussia Dortmund will have their first home match in the Bundesliga this season and their opponent will be Hertha Berlin, at the Signal Iduna Park, home of the fierce yellow wall.
Dortmund couldn’t have had a better start to the season, which makes me feel suspicious, since they haven’t brought in any big players on this transfer window, and a lot of rumours around Dembélé and Aubameyang.
After losing the German Supercup to Bayern, they started their season away from home and travelled to Wolfsburg, where they smashed the Wolves 3-0.
They were very incisive, with a lot of offensive plays and, to my surprise, they had a very good showing defensively, despite some serious absences. They were consistent and weren’t threatened at any point during the match.
It is likely that the manager doesn’t do any changes for this match, and he shouldn’t because that was a perfect debut.
Hertha has also had a good start to this Bundesliga. Playing at home, the team has beaten Stuttgart 2-0, on a match that wasn’t as easy as Dortmund’s, since it was a lot more balanced between both sides, but Hertha showed to be more efficient with their finishing.
It is a team that tends to maintain the same playing style both at home and away from home. They don’t prioritize ball possession, and try to play in transition, so they should sit back and test their defence against Dortmund’s attack.
Last season their style didn’t work very well, and had very bad results away from home, which stopped them from finishing on a European spot.
Dortmund vs Hertha Betting Tip:
It is a matchup where we have a clear favourite against an underdog.
Dortmund might slip at some point, but I think it is unlikely that they do it so early in the season, since it is a crucial stage for every team that wants to have a good campaign.
Their first match left great impressions, and I think they will be able to maintain their style at home, which gives them high chances to win against Hertha relatively easily.
I’m betting on Dortmund to be winning at half-time so that they can manage in the 2nd half, just like they did against Wolfsburg.
