Dominic Thiem vs David Goffin – ATP London Finals: Dominic Thiem is an Austrian 24-year old tennis player who is currently 4th on the ATP Rankings…
He is an aggressive player, who has a good one-handed backhand, an offensive style and heavy strokes. He also has a good serve and is very intelligent.
David Goffin is a Belgian 26-year old tennis player who is ranked 8th on the ATP Rankings.
He is also an aggressive player who is mentally strong, has good movement around the court, is quick and has a reasonable serve. He is also very good technically.
Thiem is one win away from the semi-finals. I can say that I’ve watches his 2 matches and I’m not exactly impressed with his quality.
The truth is that he is a good player, I like his style, because he knows when to be aggressive, knows the right timings of when he should come up to the net but he sometimes loses because he “likes” to put himself in tough situations.
There are moments where he has the situation perfectly and under control and then risks winners and aces in 2nd serves, who then turn into important points that he slips up.
To give an example, he was broken by Busta after being 40-0 up because he began to try and hit “hot shots” and then wasn’t able to close out the game at the right time.
We’ll see what he has to give, Goffin is in the same situation, since he only needs one win.
The biggest question mark about David Goffin has been his physical condition. On the match against Nadal, he seemed to be reasonably well, despite having moments where he looked tired, but that was it.
However, against Dimitrov, he got humiliated (6-0 and 6-2) and his body language was inadequate.
He made too many mistakes and with the Bulgarian only being able to get 37% of his 1st serves win, he was still capable of losing all those games, which is ridiculous.
Goffin is a player that seems to have never recovered fully after the injury on the US Open and I even though he would retire from this tournament after that 2nd match.
To summarize, these are 2 tough players to predict, which makes me believe we won’t have a very pretty match, with a lot of mistakes and broken serves.
Dominic Thiem vs David Goffin – Betting Tip and Prediction:
However, on a simple logic, Thiem played well against Dimitrov while Goffin was humiliated and Thiem has beaten Busta with relative ease while Goffin struggled against a Nadal who played at 50% after the 2nd set.
I believe this is a match for the Austrian to take in 3 sets.
