Derby is one of the better teams in this Championship
Derby: Derby is one of the better teams in this Championship.
They played a few seasons on the Premier League already and despite being on the Championship for a couple of years, every year they are fighting for promotion, going into the promotion play-off or they finish really close to those promotion spots.
This season, their objective is the same, which will be attempting to achieve promotion to the Premier League. Their roster is interesting and has some experience.
They lost Will Hughes to Watford’s Marco Silva, which was an impactful player. On the 1st matchday of this Championship, Derby drew 1-1 at Sunderland, who is another great promotion candidate. They were leading but then Sunderland would end up tying the game, thanks to a penalty.
Wolverhampton: This season they will be managed by Nuno Espírito Santo. The former FC Porto’s manager embraced this project and has the goal to take Wolves to the Premier League.
The investment was considerable and with Nuno Espírito Santo came Diogo Jota, Bolly and Rúben Neves, all from FC Porto.
Roderick, Rúben Vinagre and Ivan Cavaleiro are also some reinforcements that arrived from Portugal and they joined this roster that has a lot of ambition.
On their season debut, Wolves was able to beat Middlesbrough 1-0, with a goal by Léo Bonatini, who also played in Portuguese club Estoril.
Mid-week they played for the League cup and they also won 1-0 against Yeovil, on a match where they rotated several players on their starting line-up.
Derby vs Wolverhampton Pick:
This match should be really balanced, especially on the midfield area. These are two teams who defend well and that have the same goal, because they are both looking to achieve promotion for the Premier League.
Derby usually presents solid teams that defend well and Wolves this season will surely have a good campaign, in an attempt to forget their almost tragic campaign from last season, where they finished really far from the promotion spots.
Therefore, I fancy a close match, with both teams respecting each other, so I see this Under 2.5 Goals as a natural consequence of that.
