Crotone were able to secure their stay on the top tier of Italian football on the last match of last season’s Serie A,
avoiding relegation and sending Empoli to the Serie B in their place.
Crotone doesn’t have a great roster and I feel like they will struggle again in their relegation fight with a couple of other 3 or 4 teams whose rosters are also looking dire.
Their pre-season was fairly decent, with positive results, although they faced lower tier teams, so those positive results don’t mean much, since they didn’t face great opponents.
On their first official match in Coppa de Italia, they won 2-1 at home against Piacenza, getting the winning goal in the final minutes of the match.
AC Milan has made a very strong investment for this upcoming season and their fans are hungry for titles.
Although many specialists consider that AC Milan will have to settle for fighting for a European spot, there is some expectation around this club, whether they will be able to intrude the title fight or not.
They clearly have a stronger squad than they had for the past few seasons and they also have some official matches played so far, in the Europa League, which might help them having a good start in the league.
This AC Milan side can count with Bonucci, Bonaventura, Biglia, Donnarumma, André Silva, and some others, but they still have to prove their quality on the pitch.
And there are still some rumours that indicate some more players can join the club as well, even since they will be playing the Europa League too, where they are also title contenders, so they will need to have a deep roster, in order to perform some nice rotation, and try to recover that long lost European respect.
Crotone vs AC Milan Pick:
AC Milan is the clear favourite to win in Crotone and I don’t believe they will disappoint in their first match already.
It would be really frustrating to lose points where the main contenders on the Serie A have no intention of getting any result other than a win.
They will have some momentum, because of the Europa League, and they have an interesting roster with good solutions in the final 2 thirds of the pitch, and Bonucci being the cornerstone at the back.
I expect a strong start from a team who is looking to recover their former glory, since they used to win several titles. In Crotone, they only have one option: winning!
