Chicago Fire vs Portland Timbers – MLS: Could the season get off to a worse start for the Chicago Fire? Hardly
Veljko Paunovic’s team has started off with two completely different starting line-ups but they got off to a poor start in the MLS with two losses.
On the first match, at home, they were trailing 0-2 and then leading 3-2, but they’ve conceded 2 more goals on the final 10 minutes against Sporting Kansas City and ended up losing 3-4.
On the 2nd match, away from home at Minnesota United, disappointment was once again the key word, although all the goals have happened on a period of 11 minutes.
The opponent scored first, the Fire got the tie but then they’ve conceded again.
This is a team marked by defeat that returns home this Saturday.
The Portland Timbers are still getting used to their new manager and the path they’ve made so far doesn’t offer big reasons for excessive excitements.
The team got off two a losing start on the two away matches played, first against the LA Galaxy and then against a New York Red Bulls’ side that was presenting a rotated starting line-up, putting their focus on the CONCACAF Champions League.
Last week, the Timbers travelled to Dallas to get their first point of the season, getting a draw out of their trip to Texas.
Blanco was the only goal scorer of the two goals they’ve scored and Olum, who was sent-off, will be absent for this match.
Chicago Fire vs Portland Timbers – Betting Tip and Prediction:
The problems that have been affecting both teams are, however, different.
The Chicago Fire are showing some insecurity on the team’s collective dynamic, with the team struggling in transition and opening up a lot of space to be explored by the opposition.
The Timbers are looking for a key that can harmonize the team, but on a context of more tranquility regarding the time window they have to present results.
That’s because, on a stronger Eastern Conference, everything seems more urgent than on the more balanced Western Conference.
