Chelsea vs Stoke – Premier League: The current champions Chelsea will probably have to settle for the fight for 2nd place
Upon the current circumstances of having a team that only dropped 2 points in 20 matches which is Manchester City, which is still a good position in such a competitive league as the Premier League.
After losing on the 1st round to Burnley, Chelsea didn’t drop any more points playing at home to teams outside the Big 6, showing great strength when they play in Stamford Bridge.
Antonio Conte’s team won’t have the injured David Luiz and Charly Musonda available, while Andreas Christensen is still doubtful.
After very safe campaigns in the last couple of seasons, Stoke City is at real risk of being relegated, much due to their defensive weakness.
The team has already conceded 41 goals so far, averaging over 2 goals conceded per match, and being the worst defence of the competition.
Despite their situation being farm from safe, Mark Hughes’ team was able to get 4 points on their last 2 matches, against West Brom and Huddersfield, which were results that have left them with a 3-points advantage over the relegation zone.
Stephen Ireland, Bruno Martins Indi and Kurt Zouma are confirmed absences while Erik Pieters, Jesé, Glen Johnson and Ryan Shawcross are still doubtful.
Chelsea vs Stoke – Betting Tip and Prediction:
I’m impressed by the consistency of this Chelsea team. Obviously, Manchester City’s spectacular campaign ends up minimizing that, but Chelsea has been proving to be a team that rarely slips up against the weaker teams, especially playing in Stamford Bridge, which means they are on track to make a good campaign.
On the other side we have Stoke City that is starting to become a relegation candidate, with a very vulnerable defence, that is by far the worst in the Premier League, which has been compromising the team’s campaign this season.
The trend should be Chelsea getting another victory here. The team is able to dominate almost all the matches against the teams from the lower half of the table, even when they fail to win.
\Adding that to the fact that they have a good defence and they will face an opponent that usually concedes a lot of goals, I would opt for the handicaps, but looking at the odds offered, I’d rather take the Over, in order to maybe get lucky in case Stoke score their goal.
Even if that doesn’t happen, Chelsea can still fulfil that over by themselves.
