After a transfer market without being able to hire due to a punishment imposed by FIFA, following irregularities detected by the highest entity of world football, Chelsea didn’t need to put much thought about opening the wallet, in order to attack a season where the “blues” will try to add trophies to their gallery.
CHELSEA: THIAGO SILVA AND CHILWELL OFFICIALIZED TO ADD DEFENSIVE STRENGTH
The work performed last season by Frank Lampard deserved compliments from several directions, especially for the football he put on the pitch with a good offensive involvement, where several young values stood out, which is making the “blues” supporters dream of a promising future at a short and medium term, this, if the club show the ability to keep them.
At a defensive level, however, Chelsea showed several gaps, which caused some concern both playing home and away, so the strengthening of this area of the pitch was seen as an absolute priority in this transfer market.
So far, the London-based formation has received two major names, in addition to the hire of Malang Sarr, already pointing to the future.
The 21-year-old French center back was playing in Lille and arrived at Stamford Bridge as a free agent after finishing his contract. The blues have already announced that they will loan the athlete in 2020/21, in order to accumulate experience.
The big names in this Chelsea’s transfer market are the ones of Thiago Silva and Ben Chilwell. The Brazilian international central defender played in eight seasons at the service of Paris Saint-Germain, which lost the player at zero cost.
Not even his almost 36 years of age (next September 22nd) prevented Tuchel’s desire to continue counting on the Brazilian in the squad, nor Chelsea to bet heavily on his hiring, ensuring the addition of an unquestionable value who offers enormous experience to a sector of the field that counts with several young players.
For the left wing, Chelsea was not shy on spending around 50.2 million euros to sign Ben Chilwell from Leicester City, where he has been excellent in recent seasons, fact that earned him 11 caps for England’s national team.
At the age of 23, Chilwell still has a big progression margin in his career, being also, an assured value and a competitive addition of excellent level to the defensive end of Frank Lampard’ team.
WERNER TO ADD UP GOALS
Chelsea managed to add a huge quality player to their offensive end, which had as its main figures in the last season the experienced Frenchman Olivier Giroud (33) and the English youngster Tammy Abraham (22), beating the competition of several other European “sharks”, especially Liverpool, which was insistently pointed out as Timo Werner’s next career stop.
The German striker reached the peak of his career in 2019/20, at 24 years of age, with 34 goals scored in 45 games for RB Leipzig, where he stood out over the last four seasons after arriving from Stuttgart.
With remarkable intelligence in terms of movement and search for space, which not only facilitates his individual performance, but also provides goal creating chances for his teammates, Timo Werner will try to cement his quality level in the always demanding Premier League, having already scored in a friendly match against Brighton last weekend.
A match that was attended by around 2,500 spectators, in a sort of rehearsal by the English government in order to assess the possibility of having supporters in the stands next season, which is about to start.
,,,AND ZIYECH TO RAISE UP THE CREATIVITY
With Willian’s departure, the “blues” prepared themselves well in order to secure the permanence of individual talent, with players that show enough quality to be able to decide a game by themselves, through individual plays only at the reach of the best.
Hakim Ziyech is one of these cases, a creative winger with a remarkable ability in dribbling and in causing chaos in the opposing defences.
The Moroccan worth 40 million euros to Ajax, where he was one of the main figures in the last four seasons, not only with assists, but also with several goals scored (50 in 165 games).
KAI HAVERTZ ALMOST A CLOSE DEAL
If the names I already mentioned earlier can make any pure football fan mouth water, in case the London formation are also able to ensure the arrival of Kai Havertz, the demand for titles will rise even higher within the club.
In the last hours, international press is speaking about an agreement between Chelsea and Bayer Leverkusen with values between 80 and 100 million euros, but this is a soap opera that has been lasting for several weeks, with lots of information and misinformation within.
It is certain that Peter Bosz, Leverkusen’s coach, has already admitted publicly that he does not expect to count on Kai Haverz and Kevin Volland (leaving for Monaco) for the training sessions regarding the 2020/21 season start.
Frank Lampard will have a huge responsibility on his shoulders, but it is certain that he will have an unquestionably higher quality squad than he had last season, where he still managed to make a good campaign in the various competitions.
Chelsea’s next official match is scheduled for September 14, a Monday which will be marked by the Premier League debut for the “blues”, against Brighton, at the Amex Stadium.
