Belenenses vs Sporting – Liga NOS: Silas’ team occupies the 11th place with
33 points conquered, being 9 points above the relegation zone.
Which means they are on track to achieve their objective of avoiding relegation, with that possibly happening on the next round or even on this one, depending on what they can do against Sporting and what their rivals do on their respective matches.
Their moment of form is good. The team is confident, and they have every right to be, after 7 matches where they’ve only lost once, in Moreira de Cónegos (1-2).
On those 7 rounds, Belenenses managed to keep a clean sheet in 5 of them, including on their great victory over FC Porto (2-0) 2 weeks ago. On the last round, they drew in Chaves (1-1), continuing their positive streak.
Sporting’s team reacted very well to all the controversy that involves the club, due to Bruno de Carvalho’s statements on Facebook.
First, on the good response given with the showcase of strength around the workgroup (with the important support of Jesus and the fans) on the victory over Paços de Ferreira (2-0).
Then, on the fantastic showing, especially during the first half, in the 2nd leg of the Europa League’s quarter-finals against Atlético de Madrid.
Sporting went down with honor, being eliminated after winning 1-0 against one of the best European teams at the moment and showing that they clearly aren’t affected by the problems on the relationship between players and president.
Right now, the Lions are in 4th place, with the same 68 points as Braga, that has one more match played, having beaten Paços yesterday.
Belenenses vs Sporting – Betting Tip and Prediction:
This Belenenses has already shown they are a very cohesive and organized team on defence, and cynical enough to make a dent on the counter-attack.
At home, they’ve conquered 4 points on the matches against Benfica (who only scored the tying goal on injury time) and FC Porto and they have a great defensive record in the past couple of weeks.
Sporting should dominate at first, but as time goes by, even if they are able to get in the lead, they should start to show some fatigue thanks to the high demand of their schedule, something that Belenenses can easily take advantage of here.
No longer being pressured to avoid relegation, I predict another good performance from Silas’ men here, that should, at least, make Sporting’s life hard, especially since Sporting should be exhausted on the final 30 minutes of the match, with the home side having good chances of getting 1 or even all the 3 points.
