Barcelona vs Espanyol – Copa del Rey : Barcelona, on the current season, has been a very strong team
They are leading La Liga by a good margin to 2nd place and they are still on the Champions League and on the Copa del Rey.
That nice advantage allows them to go all-out on these competitions if they need to and here they definitely need to do so, because they’ve lost 1-0 on the 1st leg away from home at Espanyol.
Barcelona has been strong with Suarez, Messi, Rakitic and Jordi Alba in good form. On the last Copa del Rey’s round, Barcelona had tied with Celta de Vigo in Vigo 1-1, but on the 2nd leg, with their heavy artillery on the pitch, they solved the issue still before half-time.
Barcelona should return to playing with their best starting line-up, as a way to avoid an upset and elimination on this Copa del Rey’s quarter-finals.
Espanyol is making a quiet campaign this season, not super relaxed, but right now having a decent advantage to the teams on the relegation zone. Espanyol has a good enough roster to ensure they avoid relegation.
On this Copa del Rey, they are still competing after having performed a comeback on the previous round against Levante. They lost at home on the 1st leg but then they travelled to Valencia and won, that way advancing on this competition.
On the 1st leg they have beaten Barcelona with a goal scored very near the end of the match, in what was a very intense match.
Then they’ve lost at home on the past weekend 0-3 when they hosted Sevilla. Their objective is to advance here and in order to do that, they have to defend the 1-0 advantage they conquered on the 1st leg.
Barcelona vs Espanyol – Betting Tip and Prediction:
It will be extremely complicated for Espanyol to survive this tie, even having that advantage.
It is certain that for each goal they score, Barcelona will have to score 3, but surely the home side will play with their best players, and it will be tough for Espanyol to stop Rakitic, Suarez, Messi and the rest.
Barcelona have found the goal scoring ways again and the performance they’ve had at Betis was spectacular, especially during the first 45 minutes.
I believe on a strong start from Barcelona, just like they did with Celta de Vigo, on the previous round when it was tied 1-1.
Here the Catalans of Barcelona are at a disadvantage and they should impose a strong pressure since the start of the match, so my bet will be Barcelona to be in the lead at half-time.
