Astana got unlucky again by drawing Celtic once more, a team that had already eliminated them last season from the Champions League’s play-off,
and will most likely repeat their achievement again
Astana: The 5-0 defeat in Scotland will surely be irreversible and we won’t have any miracles in this 2nd leg match.
Astana is on top of their domestic league with a big margin, and they got through the previous rounds of this qualifying stage beating Spartak Jurmala and Legia Warsaw. However, they will succumb in front of Celtic.
This team can play some good football at home, with a lot of speed in the attacking third, with fast players who are strong in the 1v1’s, but they require a lot of goals in this 2nd leg against Celtic, and I don’t think they will be able to score 5 goals against Celtic, and they surely won’t be able to keep a clean sheet.
Still, Astana will give it their all and should play very offensively in this match, to try and win by the biggest possible margin.
Celtic: Celtic has been playing better and better. The team is showing good intermeshing and a lot of confidence at this stage of the season.
They have always won so far in their domestic league and in the Champions League, after a 0-0 draw at home against Rosenborg, the team woke up and travelled to Norway to win 1-0, knocking out Rosenborg and going through to these play-offs.
The Scottish have a good squad and they haven’t faltered in this stage, winning 5-0 in their reception to Astana, on a match they dominated completely. On this last weekend, they went to Kilmarnock and won 2-0 on a match they controlled as well.
It is possible that Celtic makes some changes on their starting 11, although they shouldn’t ease up too much.
Astana vs Celtic Pick:
Astana will go all-out attack in this match. Their pride is hurt and they will surely turn up the heat and go on the hunt for goals.
I even believe they can beat the Scottish, but most likely by only a 1 or 2 goal margin at most. Celtic will play according to the advantage they got and shouldn’t pressure too hard.
They will try to take every chance they might get to score more goals, but they shouldn’t be too worried. Astana can be a good side at home, and I expect they will at least be able to get the win.
The odd is generous and has value.
After the 5-0 result in Scotland, this is the minimum requirement for this team who is hungry for revenge and will surely want to go out on a positive note, preferably with a win, despite already being knocked out of the Champions League.
