Amanda Nunes vs Raquel Pennington – UFC 224: The Brazilian UFC Women’s
Bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes faces the American Raquel Pennington at UFC 224 this Saturday in Rio de Janeiro.
The Brazilian has been dominating the category and was one of the responsible for retiring Ronda Rousey from the UFC and make the muse go to the WWE.
She has a very aggressive style, with powerful strikes and a lot of knockout power.
Amanda is an explosive fighter. That’s her strength but also her weakness, because a lot of people are still questioning where her gas tank is capable of withstanding a rough fight until the end.
On the two fights against Valentina Shevchenko that brought Amanda to the limit, she resisted but the Belarusian’s dominance on the final rounds have still shown that’s a detail that Amanda needs to take into consideration.
But if Amanda needs to worry about cardio, Pennington will need to worry about the avalanche the Brazilian will cause in the early rounds.
Raquel Pennington is on a great moment in the UFC. Ever since she left Invicta, where she had an inconsistent career, and fought on TUF Finale, she has been improving a lot. Pennington hasn’t been an easy fighter to face.
She resists well to the strikes and has some strategical intelligence by managing to score in almost all rounds. She has lost two fights: once to Andrade (winning the revenge afterwards) and once to Holly Holm. Both of them by split decision.
But she is coming off 4 straight wins, with the highlight going to the victory over Miesha Tate, Bethe Correia and Jessica Andrade.
Amanda Nunes vs Raquel Pennington – Betting Tip and Prediction:
Amanda’s favouritism is obvious. But I believe that Pennington will be capable of withstanding the initial blitz.
There is no other viable strategy against Amanda. If she goes out trying to fight toe to toe, she will get knocked out.
She has to wear out the Brazilian and try to get some points on the early rounds. And I believe that Pennington is capable of doing that.
