Alex De Minaur vs Yannick Maden – Challenger Mouilleron-Le-Captif: Alex de Minaur is an Australian 18-year-old tennis player who is ranked 183rd on the ATP Rankings…
He is a player who has the ability to be, I’d say in the top 50 in the future. He is fast, intelligent on his strokes, has a good forehand and he likes to hit cross court.
Yannick Maden is a German 28-year old tennis player who is currently ranked 165th in the ATP Rankings. He is a player who serves very well, plays aggressive, has a much stronger forehand, a very cross court backhand and enjoys playing from the baseline.
Alex De Minaur is very likely one of the players to look out for in about 5 years. He has a style a bit different from other Aussies (Kokkinakis, Kyrgios, Tomic…).
Despite having a good forehand, he is a much more defensive player, who likes playing from the baseline and prefers some long ball exchanges. He moves well, he is fast and consistent, despite his physical appearance.
I think he lacks a little bit of acceleration on his strokes. He is too much of a “returner” and he needs to learn when to go for the winner, when needed.
This year, he has been getting some good results, beating Benoit Paire and reaching the final at the Segovia Challenger for example.
As for Maden, he is a much more experienced player, who practically spent his career playing ITF’s and Challengers and is now at the best position of his career.
He is an interesting player, but he shouldn’t be able to climb much more on the Rankings because, despite having good weapons for the Challenger circuit, on the upper circuits it should be way harder for him.
He is an aggressive player, who likes to dominate the points. I think that he still has to work on his returns because he is showing some consistency and safety on his own serve.
I also think that the way he goes into the court (the first games) decide his mental approach because it seems to me that when he starts off poorly, he isn’t able to recompose himself
Alex De Minaur vs Yannick Maden – Betting Tip and Prediction:
Finally, and giving my tip, Minaur has a lot of ability. It seems to me that he will have a brighter future than his opponent, but he still shouldn’t have an answer against an opponent who accelerates the game a lot.
Maden likes to risk winners and dominate points and the Australian should have difficulties from the start, so that’s why my bet will be in favour of the German.
